English Fruit Teabread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 oz. raisins
    4 oz. sultanas or golden raisins
    2 oz. currants
    6 oz. soft brown sugar
    1/2 pt. strained cold black tea
    1 egg, beaten
    8 oz. plain whole meal flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. ground mixed spice
Preparation
    Put the dried fruit and sugar in a bowl.
    Pour the tea over; soak overnight.
    Grease and base-line a 2-pint loaf tin.
    The next day, add the egg, flour, baking powder and mixed spice to the fruit and tea mixture.
    Beat thoroughly with a wooden spoon until all ingredients are evenly combined.
    Spoon into the prepared tin; level the surface.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 1 1/4 hours, or until well risen and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
    Serve sliced and spread with butter.
    Serves 14.
