Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. syrup
    1/4 c. water
    1/4 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Boil the sugar, syrup, water and vinegar for 6 minutes.
    Add the butter.
    Cool until it forms a soft ball in cold water. Remove from fire; stir in vanilla.
    Turn into buttered tins.
    Mark in squares when cool; cut when cold.
