Sauerkraut Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. oil
    1 c. finely chopped celery
    1 bell pepper, cut fine
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 qt. sauerkraut, drained
    1 red onion, chopped
Preparation
    Mix sugar, vinegar and oil in saucepan.
    Heat just until sugar melts, or is liquid looking.
    Set aside to cool. Pour sauerkraut into large bowl; add chopped celery, red onion and bell pepper. Pour cooled liquid over salad mixture.
    Let stand 24 hours, stirring several times.
    Very good with meat.
