Tomato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. fresh or canned tomatoes
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    2 cloves
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/4 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cook first 4 ingredients for about 20 minutes.
    Press through a sieve or food mill.
    Melt butter and add remaining ingredients. Add tomatoes.
    Heat, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes.
    Cooked rice or elbow macaroni may be added.
