Braised Doves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 doves
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    shortening
Preparation
    Roll doves in a dry mixture of flour, salt and pepper.
    Brown birds in a skillet with a small amount of shortening added.
    Remove most of the drippings and add a small amount of water.
    Simmer birds over low heat for 1 hour.
    Yields 2 to 4 servings.
