Ripe Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large ripe cucumbers
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Pare and remove seeds from cucumbers.
    Cut into large chunks; salt.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Mix remainder of ingredients in saucepan.
    Add the cucumbers.
    Simmer until the cucumbers are easily pierced with a fork.
    Pack them in jars and cover with syrup.
