Janice Browning'S Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 chicken, boiled until done and deboned
    2 c. flour
    1 egg
    3/4 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Boil chicken in water until done; debone chicken and return to broth.
    Bring to a boil.
    Prepare dumplings by mixing together the flour, egg, milk, baking powder, salt and shortening.
    Knead thoroughly and roll out on a floured board.
    Slice and place in boiling chicken broth.
    Salt and pepper broth to taste.
    Cook slowly, uncovered, for 10 minutes and covered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
