Clear Lemon Or Vanilla Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Stir until blended.
    Cook until clear and thick, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice or 1 teaspoon vanilla and a dash of salt; stir. Put into pint jar and refrigerate.
    A good topping for gingerbread or apple pie, also by reheating and serving hot.
