Oniony Potatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 chopped onions
    2 lb. cubed potatoes
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. water
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in saucepan and simmer covered for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
    Drain, reserving liquid. Add 3/4 cup of liquid to potatoes and mash.
    Add more cooking liquid to thin if necessary.
