Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. leftover meat (any kind leftover roast)
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. water
    1 1/2 c. diced celery
    1 c. diced leeks
    1 c. fresh bean sprouts
    1 c. sliced mushrooms
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 Tbsp. soy sauce
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Saute meat until brown in shortening; add water and celery, simmer 5 minutes.
    Blend cornstarch into soy sauce and add meat mixture.
    Simmer 10 minutes. Add mushrooms and bean sprouts and simmer 5 minutes longer.
    Serve over cooked rice.
