Apple Pancakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening or salad oil
    1 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    1/2 c. peeled, coarsely grated apple
    1 c. applesauce, heated
    1/2 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Beat egg and stir in buttermilk and oil.
    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt together; add to liquid ingredients, beating until smooth.
    Pour lemon juice over grated apple and stir into batter.
    Bake on a lightly greased hot griddle, turning when pancakes are puffed and full of bubbles.
    Serve together with alternate layers of hot applesauce and brown sugar.
    Sprinkle the top with brown sugar.
    Makes 16 pancakes.
