Shake Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. 5 or 6-inch cucumbers
    2 Tbsp. coarse canning salt
    5 lb. sugar
    2 Tbsp. whole mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    apple cider
    1/2 tsp. mace
    1 1/2 sticks cinnamon
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers and pack in gallon jar.
    Add canning salt; fill with apple cider.
    Soak for 6 weeks (date the jar).
    After 6 weeks, rinse and cut cucumbers fine into gallon jar.
    Add the 5 pounds sugar (1 cup at a time).
    Add spices.
    Shake after each layer of sugar until you have used all the sugar.
    Shake every week for 2 or 3 weeks.
    Open and eat.
