Irish Sherry Trifle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sweet sherry
    1 pt. each: strawberry and lime gelatin, prepared and partially set
    2 c. prepared custard
    1/2 c. strawberry or raspberry jam
    2 c. whipped dairy cream
    sponge cake or pound cake
    1 pkg. (about 12) ladyfingers
    a few cherries or strawberries
Preparation
    Put a layer of sponge cake, about 3/4 inch thick, at bottom of dish.
    A clear glass dish (about 3-quart) is preferable.
    Coat lightly with jam and saturate with half of sherry.
    Arrange ladyfingers in standing position around dish.
    Cover sponge cake with 1/2-inch layer of both gelatins.
    Cover with layer of cool custard.
    Repeat procedure 2 more times.
    Place whipped cream on top and garnish with cherries or strawberries.
    Chill and serve. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
