Layered Vegetable Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can cut green beans, drained
    2 c. sliced carrots, cooked slightly
    1 small onion, sliced thin
    2 c. celery, cooked slightly
    1/2 c. green pepper, cut in thin strips
    1 (No. 2 1/2) can tomatoes
    3 Tbsp. tapioca
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    mushrooms or water chestnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Arrange vegetables in layers in buttered casserole (except tomatoes). Combine tomatoes, tapioca, sugar and seasonings.
    Heat and pour over vegetables. Cover with buttered bread crumbs. Bake at 350\u00b0, uncovered, about 1 1/2 hours. Allow to stand 3 to 5 minutes at room temperature. Serves 8.
