Peach Meringue Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter, softened
    1/2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks
    2/3 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. milk
    4 egg whites
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. chopped pecans
    sliced peaches
    whipped cream
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
    Cream butter and sugar with mixer; add egg yolks and mix thoroughly.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add dry ingredients to egg mixture alternately with milk.
    Pour into cake pans.
    Set aside while preparing meringue.
    Beat egg whites until foamy but not dry.
    Gradually add sugar by tablespoon until all is used.
    Add vanilla.
    Divide meringue and spread over unbaked cake batter.
    Sprinkle with nuts.
    Bake 20 to 25 minutes, being careful not to overbake.
    Cool.
    Cut into wedges to serve.
    Top with sweetened, sliced peaches.
    Garnish with whipped cream.
