Maple Syrup Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. maple syrup
    2 1/4 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    3 egg whites
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening together.
    Add syrup and stir.
    Add milk and flour alternately.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in oblong pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes or until done.
