Beefy Jalapeno Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. plus 1 Tbsp. yellow cornmeal
    1 c. milk
    2 eggs
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. bacon drippings
    1 (17 oz.) cream-style corn
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
    4 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
Preparation
    Combine 1 cup cornmeal, milk, eggs, salt, soda, bacon drippings and corn in a bowl. Set aside. Cook ground beef until lightly browned; drain well and set aside. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon cornmeal in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle evenly with beef. Top with onion and cheese. Sprinkle peppers over top. Pour corn mixture over peppers. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
