Poppy Seed Cake - cooking recipe

3/4 c. poppy seed
3/4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites, beaten until stiff peaks form
Preparation

Soak the poppy seed in the milk overnight.
Cream the sugar and butter. Add poppy seed mixture. Add the flour, baking powder, vanilla and egg whites.
Bake in two 8 or 9-inch layers at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
