Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1 German chocolate cake mix
    1 1/2 c. water
    3/4 c. softened butter
    3 eggs
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Melt caramels with milk in double boiler.
    Set aside, but keep warm.
    Combine cake mix with water, butter and eggs in a large mixer bowl and blend on low speed 30 seconds, then beat at medium speed 2 minutes.
    Pour half the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until cake puffs up and is gooey.
    Remove cake from oven and pour caramel-milk mixture over partially baked layer.
    Sprinkle nuts and chocolate chips evenly over caramel.
    Pour remaining batter over all and bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes until top springs back when touched lightly.
    Top with ice cream and cut into squares.
