Farrah Fawcett'S Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. beef bones for soup
    2 carrots, divided
    2 ribs celery, divided
    1 large onion, halved
    1 pkg. (16 oz.) dried lentils, rinsed and drained
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In large saucepot bring beef bones and 2 quarts water to boiling.
    Add 1 carrot, 1 rib celery and onion.
    Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour.
    Strain; discard vegetables.
    Return broth to saucepot.
    Chop remaining carrot and celery; add to broth with lentils.
    Bring to boiling.
    Reduce heat; cover and simmer 40 to 45 minutes until lentils are tender.
    Season to taste.
