White Bean Dip With Toasted Pita Chips - cooking recipe

1/4 c. soft bread crumbs
2 Tbsp. water
1 red or yellow bell pepper (optional)
1 (15 to 19 oz.) can cannellini beans or Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 c. toasted slivered almonds
3 cloves minced garlic
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsp. olive oil (preferably extra virgin)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground red pepper
2 tsp. snipped fresh oregano or basil or 1/2 tsp. dried herbs
purple kale leaves (optional)
1 recipe Pita Chips
Preparation

Combine bread crumbs and water and set aside to soak.
Cut fresh pepper into triangles or strips (1 inch wide); set aside.
