Beef Stew(Homemade) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. beef stew meat, cut into small pieces
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. sliced carrots
    2 c. potatoes, cut into wedges
    1 1/2 c to 2 qt. water
    1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 c. peas, drained
    1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    2 Tbsp. Kitchen Bouquet
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion in 1 tablespoon shortening.
    Add carrots, peas and potatoes; add water, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
    Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally (approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours).
    Add Kitchen Bouquet; mix cornstarch in small glass of water until dissolved.
    Pour into beef stew and cook until thickened.
