Asparagus With Brown Butter - cooking recipe

1 1/2 to 2 lb. asparagus
4 to 6 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. slivered almonds
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation

Wash and trim vegetables. Cook in boiling salted water 8 to 12 minutes. Drain and keep warm. Melt butter in small saucepan or frying pan over medium heat. Add almonds. Cook and stir until butter and almonds are golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes. Add lemon juice, salt and pepper. Spoon over hot asparagus. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Broccoli may also be used.
