Black Bean Soup 2 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. black beans
    3 qt. water
    1/4 lb. salt pork
    1/2 lb. lean beef, cut in small pieces
    1 carrot, diced
    3 small onions, minced
    3 cloves
    1/4 tsp. mace
    dash of red pepper
    3 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
    1 lemon, sliced
    1/2 c. sherry
Preparation
    Wash and clean beans; soak overnight.
    In morning, sort beans carefully and put in stock pot with 3 quarts water.
    Add salt pork, beef, carrot, onions, cloves, mace and red pepper.
    Cover and cook slowly 3 hours or until beans are very soft.
    Rub through sieve.
    Place hot bean liquid and puree in a tureen.
    Add egg slices, lemon slices and sherry.
