Strawberry Preserves - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 c. prepared strawberries (large, tart berries are best)
4 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation

Combine prepared whole strawberries and sugar in alternate layers and let stand for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.
Heat the fruit mixture to boiling, stirring gently.
Boil rapidly, stirring to prevent sticking.
Cook until syrup is somewhat thick, 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and skim.
Ladle into hot jars and seal.
