Tomato Cheddar Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, sliced
    3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    2 c. chicken broth
    2 c. milk
    1 can whole tomatoes, drained, seeded and chopped
Preparation
    Melt butter in large pot at medium heat.
    Add onions and saute until transparent (5 minutes).
    Stir in flour; stir until smooth.
    Add milk and tomatoes.
    Gradually add chicken broth, stirring until smooth.
    Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Cheese can be added now or individually when serving soup.
    Serves 6 to 8.
