Old-Time Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1 c. warm water
    3 Tbsp. sugar (heaping)
    3 Tbsp. shortening (slightly rounded)
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    3 c. flour (unsifted)
Preparation
    In large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
    Add sugar, shortening, salt, egg and 1 cup flour.
    Beat for 2 minutes.
    Add remaining 2 cups flour and beat until dough crawls up beaters. Cover with wet towel and let rise in warm place for 1 hour, or until double in bulk.
    Punch down.
    Pour onto floured board and knead until easy to handle.
    Shape as desired.
    Place in pan and let rise for 1 hour.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 until brown.
    Suitable for freezing.
