Rhode Island Clam (Quahog) Chowder - cooking recipe

2 qt. clams (quahogs)
1/4 lb. salt pork (fat)
3 c. cubed potatoes
2 large onions, chopped
1/2 tsp. pepper
4 c. rich milk
3 tsp. butter *
Preparation

*Flour and water, mixed, may be added to thicken chowder before adding butter.
