Sauerbraten - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 lb. rump roast or sirloin tips
    1 c. water
    1 c. white vinegar
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 unpeeled lemon, sliced
    10 whole cloves
    4 bay leaves
    6 whole peppercorns
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Mix last 9 ingredients together and marinate meat for 24 to 36 hours.
    Strain marinade and put 1 cup over meat; cook in crock-pot until done.
    Remove meat and put 12 crushed gingersnaps into the broth to make gravy (use small gingersnaps).
