Old-Fashion Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. cooking oil
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    dash of salt
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/8 c. hot water
    1 c. boiling water
    2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Add eggs, sugar, molasses and oil in a large bowl and mix well.
    Dissolve the baking soda in the 1/8 cup of hot water and add to the mixture.
    Sift in the flour, spices and salt; mix well. Add the cup of boiling water and beat lightly and quickly.
    Pour into greased and floured pan (13 x 9 x 2-inch) and bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes or until done by testing with a toothpick.
    This batter seems thick after making, but do not add anything else.
