Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    4 Tbsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. pickling spice
    2 Tbsp. alum
    4 c. apple cider vinegar
    1 1/4 c. sugar (per quart)
Preparation
    Wash large firm cucumbers and put them in a gallon glass jar. Mix together salt, pickling spice, alum and vinegar; pour over cucumbers.
    Fill jar with water and put lid on.
    Let set 60 days at room temperature.
    It can stand longer.
