Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    garlic cloves, peeled
    fresh dill
    powdered alum
    pickling cucumbers
    white vinegar
    salt
Preparation
    Prepare cucumbers as you like them:
    spears, slices, whole.
    In bottom of each quart jar, put one whole garlic clove, 1 sprig of fresh dill and 1/2 teaspoon of alum.
    Fill jar with cucumbers, packing tightly.
    Place one more garlic clove and 1 sprig of fresh dill on top of jar.
    Fill with prepared water*.
    Process by home canning method.
    Let set for 3 months before serving.
