"Bigos" - Polish Hunters Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 lb. cubed beef
    1 large onion, diced
    1 red apple, diced
    1 1/2 c. beef broth
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 1/4 lb. lamb breast
    1 lb. sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
    1/2 lb. mushrooms
    3/4 lb. Polish sausage
    1 small head cabbage (2 lb.)
    1 red apple, cut in wedges
Preparation
    Brown beef in butter and remove from pan.
    Add diced onion and diced apple.
    Cook for 5 minutes.
    Return beef to pan and add 1 cup beef broth, salt, pepper and allspice.
    Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer for 1 hour 15 minutes.
