Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. raisins
1 c. currants or nut meats
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 Tbsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. sweetened applesauce
Preparation

Sift a few tablespoons of the flour over nuts and raisins. Cream butter and sugar.
Beat in egg.
Add nut meats and raisins. Sift together flour, soda and spices.
Stir into butter mixture. Last, add the applesauce which has been heated.
Bake cake in a 9-inch tube pan lined with buttered paper, in a moderate 350\u00b0 oven for about 1 hour.
