Vinegar Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cup sugar
    1 - 1/2 cups water
    3 tablespoons cornstarch, dissolved in 1/2 cup water
    2 tablespoons butter or oleo
    3 eggs, separated
    3 tablespoons cider vinegar
    pinch of salt
    1 teaspoon lemon extract
    1 unbaked pie crust
    9 tablespoons sugar, for meringue
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 300\u00b0. Combine sugar and water and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch to boiling sugar water mixture. Boil until clear. Remove from stove. Add butter, the beaten egg yolks, vinegar, salt and vanilla. Stir well and pour into pie shell. Bake 20 minutes at 300\u00b0. Remove from oven. Beat 3 egg whites until stiff, add sugar gradually. Spread meringue over Pie. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until brown.
