Baconized Corn Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1 c. sour milk
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    bacon
Preparation
    Sift flour once before measuring.
    Sift flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt together.
    Beat egg and add milk.
    Combine with flour mixture.
    Add melted shortening and beat well.
    Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full.
    Sprinkle tops with uncooked diced bacon.
    Bake 15 minutes in 400\u00b0 oven, then set muffins under broiler so that bacon may become crisp.
    Yield: 8 muffins.
