Borsch(Ukrainian Christmas Soup) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 oz. dried mushrooms
    1 chopped onion
    2 medium beets, chopped
    1 carrot, chopped
    1 celery, chopped
    1 c. chopped cabbage
    1 whole onion
    10 peppercorns
    1 bay leaf
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 Tbsp. tomato paste
Preparation
    Simmer the dried mushrooms in 3 cups of water for 1 hour. Strain them through a cheese cloth, but save the stock.
    Wash mushrooms thoroughly and save.
