Chow-Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 heads cabbage
    1 peck green tomatoes
    12 to 15 sweet green peppers
    2 to 3 pods hot pepper
    2 onions (optional)
    2 Tbsp. pickling spice
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
    1 lb. brown sugar
    vinegar
Preparation
    Chop first 5 ingredients.
    Sprinkle with salt and let stand overnight.
    Drain.
    Tie pickling spices, celery seed and cinnamon in a thin cloth.
    Mix brown sugar with enough vinegar to cover cabbage mixture.
    Cook only until tender.
    Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
    Process for 10 minutes at simmering temperature (about 200\u00b0).
    Makes 12 to 14 pints.
