Corn Dogs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. hot dogs
    vegetable oil
    1 c. all purpose flour
    2 Tbsp. cornmeal
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    3/4 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten
    1 medium onion, grated
Preparation
    Pat hot dogs dry with paper towel.
    Heat oil (2 - 3 inches) to 365\u00b0.
    Mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in shortening.
    Dip hot dogs in batter, allow excess batter to drip off.
    Fry 6 minutes turning once.
    Insert wood skewers in end of each.
