French Tea Cakes(Petite Gateaux Douce) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    3 large eggs, lightly beaten
    1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter.
    Add eggs and cream until smooth, adding vanilla.
    Mix together dry ingredients.
    Add to sugar mixture and mix well until you have a soft, smooth dough.
    Roll out on a floured board and cut with biscuit cutter.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
    (Last several weeks.)
    These were usually stored in a cloth sack or pillowcase and brought on the boats by fishermen to have with their coffee.
