Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    1 Tbsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. coconut
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. flour
    1 c. pecans
Preparation
    Cream together sugar and shortening.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Add vanilla, soda, buttermilk and salt.
    Gradually add flour, coconut and pecans.
    Beat the egg whites and fold in last. Pour into 3 round baking pans.
    Bake for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0 until tests done.
    Cool.
