Indian Fruit Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large loaf French bread
    3 c. sliced fresh plums
    1 2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 c. sliced fresh peaches
Preparation
    Trim crust from bread; cut into 1/2-inch slices.
    Line a 1 1/2-quart round bowl with bread, pressing firmly with fingers. Cook plums with 1 cup sugar and cinnamon, stirring constantly until plums are soft, about 10 minutes.
    Cook peaches with 2/3 cup sugar, about 10 minutes.
    Layer plums and peaches in bread-lined bowl.
    Cover top with remaining bread slices.
    Place a flat plate with a heavy weight on top.
    Refrigerate overnight. Unmold and serve with whipped cream (Cool-Whip).
