Australian Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round steak or small 2 to 3 lb. chuck roast
    1/4 lb. bacon
    1 large onion
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. marjoram
    1 clove garlic
    3/4 c. Chablis or other dry wine
    5 or 6 medium potatoes
    2 parsnips (optional)
    several stalks celery
    3 or 4 carrots
    2 c. beef broth
    1 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    Cut meat into small chunks.
    Cut up bacon and fry with diced-up onion.
    Add meat; brown well.
    Add salt, pepper, marjoram, crushed garlic and wine.
    Bring mixture to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer for an hour.
