Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 lb. round steak
    1/4 c. oil
    1 c. water
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    1/4 tsp. ground ginger
    2 medium green peppers, cut 3/4-inch wide
    1 c. uncooked instant rice
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 to 3 tsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 medium tomatoes, chopped
Preparation
    Cut steak into 1-inch thick strips.
    Heat oil in skillet.
    Add beef strips.
    Cook, stirring frequently, until brown.
    Stir in water, onion, garlic salt and ginger.
    Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Add green peppers for the last 5 minutes of simmering.
    Cook rice as directed on package.
    Blend cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce: stir in beef mixture.
    Cook until thickens. Boil about 1 minute.
    Place tomatoes on top of mixture.
    Water chestnuts may be added.
    Cover and cook until heated.
    Serve over rice.
