Fresh Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

5 c. strawberries, cleaned and hulled
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
1 c. whipping cream
2 Tbsp. 10x sugar
Preparation

Divide strawberries into two piles.
Slice one pile in half. Crush remaining berries with fork.
Put the crushed berries in a heavy-bottom pan and stir in the cornstarch, sugar and lemon juice. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture looks clear and is thickened.
Remove from heat and cool.
Gently stir in the sliced berries.
Put the strawberry mixture into the baked crust.
Just before serving, whip the cream with powdered sugar and spread over pie.
