Bertha Smith'S Old Fashioned Stack Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 eggs
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
3 lb. dried apples
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
4 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until creamy.
Add eggs and beat.
Add milk, salt, vanilla, baking powder and flour, a little at a time, until stiff enough to roll out.
Pinch off dough; roll on floured board.
Add flour so that it won't stick.
Grease and flour cake pans or skillet.
Bake in oven until light brown.
Spread each layer with cooked, mashed and sweetened apples.
Leave top layer without apples.
Put 1 teaspoon ground cloves into apple mixture. Store cake 2 or 3 days before eating.
