Rhubarb Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. rhubarb, diced
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. rolled oats
    1 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, combine the rhubarb, sugar, cornstarch, water and baking soda.
    While stirring, bring to a boil and cook until thick and bubbly (about 5 minutes).
    Set aside and stir in vanilla.
