Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. white or brown sugar
1 well beaten egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. molasses
1 c. hot water
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg. Sift dry ingredients together. Combine molasses and hot water. Combine all ingredients and mix together. Place into 10-inch square or 10 x 15-inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
