Pinto Bean Cake - cooking recipe

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 egg
2 c. pinto beans, cooked and mashed well
1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. raw chopped apples
1 c. raisins
1 c. black walnuts
Preparation

Grease and flour large tube pan or two loaf pans; preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream together in large bowl the sugar, shortening, egg and pinto beans until thoroughly blended.
Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices; add gradually to bean mixture, beating well.
Fold in chopped apples, raisins and black walnuts.
Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
