Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. uncooked oatmeal
    1 c. lightly packed brown sugar
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. butter or shortening
    2 large eggs
    1 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over oatmeal.
    Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
    Add brown and white sugars and butter or shortening. Stir until shortening is melted.
    Add eggs and mix well.
    Sift together flour, soda, salt and cocoa; add to oatmeal mixture.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Add about half package of chips and mix together.
